Not sure what way is best way to go yet, wether to rebuild or replace our engine, not even sure the size of it yet tbh, vin plate says 1500cc, log book says 2000cc

Ours looks a hell of a state, not sure what the innards will be like once stripped down, but just want to see what the prices and availability of up and running units are, if indeed any are around.

I think the early engine was 1500. Then it went to 1725 which is what’s in mine (built 1972). I’m not that clued up so someone will confirm or correct that

If it's a '69 with the original engine then it will be a 1725. They can look awful on the outside but still run sweet, see if you can get it running before you decide. You can get new short engines from a guy in London but all the parts are available for a re-build too.

Thanks For replies guys

Think we will strip and inspect and go from there
Unless a complete tidy runner crops up at right price
If one does I Will buy a lottery ticket that week as well

If you do rebuild then Sheffield Engine Services did mine...very good place and no real cost difference between that and the short engines after you’ve spent the time or paid someone to build the short engine up

I did a bottom end rebuild on mine but it turned out to have a blocked oil gallery so big ends went again
