Engine Oil Cap

Hi all,
Rupert didn't have an oil cap when i got him - something i should have noticed, i suppose, but i was too excited...
Now this isn't an enormous problem - no oil has splashed out anywhere (yet), but when the engine stops thin smoke comes out of the filler pipe and makes the van smell nasty.
Problem: I can't find an oil cap on any of the standard parts sites. Are there any generic/alternative caps that could be used?

Ta,
Rich

I'm sure Martin or Woolfy will be able to help, but if you're stuck, a spare rad cap might fit as they look very similar in design. The spring might foul the rocker gear though. Best to get it covered ASAP, you don't want debris falling in there.

Just tried it and the rad cap does fit. It fits with the spring on so you can leave it as is until you get a proper cap or chop the spring off and make do.

Excuse me ... has your van got my name?!

I was very confused there!

Lucky I'm sober!

Rupert (not the van)

and I don't have an oil cap as far as I know [:0]

i've finally got round to trying the rad cap as an oil cap - but apparently i haven't got the original radiator, and the rad cap is too small :(
any other ideas anyone?

ps. BMM - my van does have your name :) we'd decided on it before i found this forum... let the confusion begin!

i'm fairly sure i have a standard engine... big black lumpy thing in the box at the front ;)
the radiator is held in place with plastic cable ties, which is why i thought it might not be original. though the replacement rad hoses i got fitted perfectly. hmm....
I'll have to post an engine bay pic so the experts can tell me what's what.
if you've got a spare martin, pls PM me - it's the last completely missing thing that i need to find...

I would suggest that a spare Martin would be very useful! [)]

Would be handy to take on your travels though, if you could fit him in a cupboard with all the spare parts you need too [}:)]
