Engine cut out when driving

Hey guys I was after a little advice. I used my commer to go camping in the other day and on the way there it conked out whilst i was doing about 40 mph. Its as if no fuel was geting to the engine. I disconected the hose where it goes into the carb and carfuly put it into a bottle, when i started the enging hardly anything came out. I got underneath and thought my fuel line was kinked and the fuel filter i have needed changing which is near the petrol tank. I unkinked the line and didnt change the filter as i didnt have one, tried starting it again and it worked after a few atempts and i got to where i wanted to go. On the way back it did exactly the same thing, by now id bought a new fuel filter and changed it however it didnt seem to do much as when i tried restarting it it would tick over for about 30 secs and then die again. I was about to give up when i tried the engine once more, it started and was about to die when i slammed my foot to floor and it seemed to feel like it blew something through and then it ran fine! half our later it nearly juddered to a halt again at about 50 and so i slammed my foot down again and it seemed to blow something through it and it stayed ok and got me home. I was wondering, does this sound like snakeskin or any other type of common blokage? Any help or advice much apreciated, cheers!

Yes Alex, its the old snakeskin problem by the sound of it [xx(]
you might try checking the tank outlet itself, as that could be blocked. Also the fuel pump, and the carb filter :)
