earthing locations on dash

hey guys, i have my dash out at the min to clean it up a bit. i noticed when removing that there are several earth leads attached to the back of the temp guage. according to the diagram it looks like they should be on the fuel guage but its confusing lol, does anyone know exactly where they should be. as common sense would seem to dictate that each clock should have at least 1 earth strap attached? all but my fuel guage is working, im testing the fuel guage today but i want to get any wiring probs sorted before placing the dash back ;) any ideas

I had endless trouble with my wiring so i ended up re doing it. The original is very poorly designed with basically a single earth wire from device to device and eventually to body. there are always poor connections. I ran each circiut seperatly back to two fuse boxes. One permenant live and one ignition live. From memory there are around 16 fuses of the blade type. Its way better and all works perfect plus if something goes wrong you know exactly what it is without everything just going dead! It didnt cost that much and took a couple of days all in all, well worth it in my opinion. Could post a pic or two if you think it would help?

yes please m8, may be a good idea. i take it you ran individual earth straps to everything? its a maze of wiring behind my dash so may be nice to sort it all out, did you replace the entire loom or just behind the dash?

Ok here are a couple of really poor pix. Sorry they are so poor but i have just installed the kick panal that hides all the ugly bits!
general scheme of things is each thing that needs a earth has a wire run to a central point which is then earthed with a bolt to the body. In my case onto the strengthening bar behind the front panal just under where the heater would be. The original setup has two fuses. One permenant live the other ignition live. There are a bunch of circuits fed from each. Idea is to replace the fuse 'box' with two modern ones. One live the other ignition live. Most circuits will have a seperate feed available but a couple will need a new cable to the relevant fuse box. I think the wipers was a funny one.
Once that is done you can then easly run as many extra cuircuits for OD, fog light etc as you want, each with its own fuse. I even seperated out the dash lights so they could be turned off at night.

im planning on replacing all the old fuses with nice new ones but they seem to be all over the place lol:D

I found it much easier to work in there with the steering wheel off though. When you break it down it is just about the simplest electrical setup ever. So how did they make it so Dodgy[?]

yh mark thats 1 option in considering at the min mate. the wiring is such a mess but your right its dead simple really. i have got to sort it out a bit today, hopefully i can geteverything working again lol.
