dormobile coaster

whats needed is the seat behind the passenger seat that makes up part of the bed.dont no if any body has one ,or can give me an idea how i could perhaps make one.everything else for the coaster conversion is there.cheers gary:D

Gary if its just a cushion(s) then my mother could wisk you up a replacement using foam from the market to the same softness as the existing if the same material can be found. if its hard backed with timber then that can be done too, if you want more info give me a shout 07867 858170

no its not the cushions, its the frame work of the seat, that faces forward and can be reversed to sit round the table.also it folds flat to form part of the bed:D

give Nath a ring he's doing a very nice job of charlie commer [^] Do you have one side of the bed/chair or none at all?I presume none at all.

"RAN"the van & N0.1

i have the rear bench seat that pulls out flat,i need the double seat in front of that..it faces forward/backwards then folds flat to make part of the end of bed.:Dhope that explains it

i think the layout/setup is the same in the ford thames E400 dormobile, may be easier to locate but not sure about bedford ca dormobile. the only other option is to hire a pipe bender and using the rear as pattern if similar we'll weld one up

hi charlie,if you go into chat on the forum page15 scroll down tomags and brochures, click on photo bucketthink its the 2nd pagethere is a dormobile brochure therr.it shows the type of seatby the side entrance door:D

ok that isnt as i imagined it would be although the back rest would be easy enough to fabricate and furnish but i cant make out the seat base or the folding mechanism. if someone had one we could view, measure and photograph that would great, anythings do-able just with time:D

cheers for that will keep looking, will have to use a couple blocks of wood at end of bed for now to stop it from flexing.:D

The Bedford CA Dormobile used single 'Dormatic' seats, not double like the Coaster. Prety certain that the Thames 400E Dormobile was also singles. The Bedford CA & CF Dormobile 'utility' vehicles used the double Dormatic seats, utilibus and utilivan. Might be worth posting a wanted plea on the Dormobile Owners Club forum?

Sorry, forgot that the glass-fibre bodied camper, the Dormobile Debonair also had the double Dormatic seat, made on both the Bedford CA & CF.

Hi Garry.. Im restoring a Coaster and it has the orig seats..
There is a small forward facing double seat that sits behind the
pass side seat. The back of which can be reversed for when the table is up. The back is then removed when the bed is made..
And theres a small folding base independant stool that folds up behind the drivers seat when not in use. This is used for the forming of the double bed, or as a stool only..
You are welcome to measure them up, but cant say when as they are stored in an awkward spot at my mates unit in Wolverhampton..
They are of a tubular steel constuction.. Hope this helps a bit..
Will:)

Hi-jack alert :I
While you're around Will did you modify the Rover axle to take the lever arm shockers or did you make brackets and use telescopics.

'Harvey the RV'

Hi John.. You just caught me, I was off for a stool.. :I:I
I replicated the original axle mounts for the lever shocks, and fitted them.. I wish that I had used teles instead, as the old lever ones are crap..(I cant get off the stool issue can I)!!
Dozer did a nice job of fitting teles to his Ford axle on his V6 Commer..
You can see it in his pics somewhere..
I will have to find some sutible telescopics for the Coaster/rover axle, when I finaly get to that stage....
Good luck mate.. Must switch off now.... Oooohhh..:D
