Dodge fuel filler cap - water in tank

Hi all,

Today the Dodge Spacevan made it all of 500 yards before I spent the day working out and working around the fact that the tank was 30% water.

Looks from some previous posts that it's a bad design, but what's the solution?

Is it replace the rubber in the cap or something else? (The tank is currently out being drained and the lines will be blown through)

This happened to mine too. I stripped the cap and used the old seal as a template. I cut a new one from some rubber matting. Not had a problem since.
