Diff Ratios

We have discussed this before, but I couldn't find the topic. Whats the normal diff ration on a commer - The one I won on ebay, which arrived this morning appears to be about 4.7:1 which, I thought, was the ration for the diesel version? I hope so, cos it would give Frodo longer legs!

you,re in luck there charlie, afaik the 2 available ratios are 5.12 and 5.62, so perhaps its a diesel diff i guess. frodo will be taking big long strides forward with that :p[^]:)

it would seem that the later spacevans have the 4.7 diff, so thats the ones to look for :)

That's probably because they went to 14" wheels ;)

well spotted martin, thats probably right.
so the best result is keep the 15" wheels and fit a spacevan diff :)

Nice one Charlie - who needs a P5 axle when you can get the proper job[^]

but the j4 has 17" wheels and only does 1/2 a trillion mph [?]
maybe the timing is a bit out :D

Is there anyway to spot the crucial differences externally without resorting to calculating the ratios ?
