Commer Values

I would be VERY VERY VERY concerned if my home and local environment were covered in white dust from a factory! I do not know what goes into a Cat, other than platinum, but I do know its very likely to be harmfull if inhaled, you only have to see and have read about the amount of people who have died as a direct result of breathing in Asbestos dust, which is white, from living near an Asbestos factory or working on cars ( brakes and clutches ) and even cleaning clothes that have asbestos dust on them to know that any white deposit on your property should be investigated immeadiately and if that sounds alarmist its meant to. My father died last year from Mesothelioma which is cancer caused by Asbestos dust, its incurable, virtually untreatable and a more horrible death you are unlikely to see any one suffer. Get that stuff looked at for you and your familys sake!!!!

It's probably ash from a furnace process but as Alan says don't take chances. I think I would challenge the offending factory first - get the council involved and if you don't get a satisfactory answer get an independent analysis done, on second thoughts insist that the council sort it out to confirm, or otherwise, what the factory says. If it is as widespread as you say then there is something wrong with their process - hazardous or otherwise.

There is no reason nowdays, why any factory should be letting dust into the atmosphere. There is loads of EU legislation requiring factories to stop their emissions, I think you have a good chance of forcing them to do something about it.

And, whether or not they say that the dust is "harmless", the posts above show that what is at one time considered harmless, can prove to be devastating.

just to point out this was in my local paper....I am approx 9 miles away,I am sure the residence have sent the letter to the weekly paper to try & get an investigation done.....

Send a letter yourself, do not rely on others to do it for you or themselves. Even if your not affected directly you would be doing the local community a great service to get the ball rolling and some action taken......you could even save lives!!!!
