Commer Tyres/Tubes

Hi all,

I have an inner tube fitted to the tyre of one of my commer back wheels. It developed a puncture and when I took it to the tyre place they said that it is because the tube has been rubbing on the tyre. They say that the tyre is not designed to have an inner tube fitted within it (but they fitted it themselves a year ago!).

I can't just use a tubeless tyre as they say that the diameter of the hole for the valve to come through is too large.

they also say they can no longer fit inner tubes to wheels.

My question is, can I buy a tyre designed for a tube?
Are there different valve sizes?
Has anyone else heard of tyre shops that can no longer fit inner tubes?

Bore Da Dave,

Glyn used to work with tyres and his recommendation is to use a different tyre dealer!

Will do some further research for you to check but tubes shouldn't be a problem as I'm fairly sure that is what Bessie is on (not just tubes of course, has tyres too:I) Will see what we come up with for you;)

Problem solved!

I took it to another tyre depot! They also said that very few of them stock tubes now, but he had some fatter valves which fitted the hole.

Sorted, now I can go camping!!!!!!!!

Yay, sorted - good stuff

got to go and sort out 2 tyres for mine this week - we are lucky with our local scrappie, they keep all the good tyres from cars and vans that come in and sell them for a fiver each - am hoping they'll have some the right size in - all kept in a big compound which you climb through to find size you want, bit like a giant ball pit - great fun:D
