Found this old press clipping on the web...some surfers who travelled Europe in a Commer.
Just proves a Commer goes further than the end of the driveway..[}:)]


In August 1968 Ian Stevenson, Tim Keenan and a few friends set out for the Atlantic coast of France and Spain in search of sun and surf. The rest wanted sun heading for the Med leaving Ian to travel on his own in his mini with just his board, a towel and a few clothes for Northern Spain. Heading along the coast via Bilbao to Santander

"The Big Chill"?? Hope alls well with the Bedford..

Ummm yes the 'big chill' i am familiar with ..came across it the other day looking for surf reports.
The Bedfords coming along fine thanks..i have windows in now, bolted up a twin battery carrier today taken from an Iveco :D

did meet commer owners at Newgale here in Pembrokeshire some years ago who had taken their C reg camper along the coast of France and think they got to Spain as well - apparently biggest problem was petrol tank was so small it wouldn't carry enough on its' own to make it over big distances between petrol stations

I guess some of them went a long way when they were newer, I know Buttercup went to Italy via Switzerland when my Father-in-law had her as well as sound Scandanavia.
Only hill she ever failed on was halfway up the ffestiniog railway just before we bought her from my wife's parents. The clutch went on me on the way back from that trip to Wales and she came home on a Relay truck (not the only time we've done that but thats another story.
