Commer superpoise carb tuning

Hello, I’ve had the solex carb on a commer superpoise 4 cylinder ultrasonic cleaned and rebuilt with new gaskets. Unfortunately I can’t seem to set it up right to run. Currently it’s trying to fire but spits petrol out of the top of the carb. I can’t find much documentation on how to service and set up the carb correctly

Hi Daniel, first thing to check is if there's fuel getting to the carb. If yes as a starting point I always set the idle mixture to 1 1/2 turns out from fully screwed in. If it still won't start pour an egg cup full of petrol down the carb and try again, if that fails then it's time to pull the jets out and see if there's any blockage - it doesn't take much to foul them.

Thanks for your reply. I screwed the mixture screw in and wound out 1 1/2 turns and had some success. Unfortunately once I got her idling without throttle I found that if I disconnected cylinder 1 Ht lead it still ran the same. It’s got a good spark when I take the plug out so I think it’s time to compression test it. I’ll never set the carb up right running with a misfire haha!!
