commer on finance

with the success of rental commers[8D], has anyone considered restoring them, then selling them at a slightly higher price but on a finance type arrangement? as it seems to me that it would be a pretty good idea, loads of people want a commer (me included:(:() but a good one is a fair amount of money now. and i would evan pay a good price for a non restored one if i could pay a deposit and then make regular payments, just an idea as alot of people have a few of them rotting away that could go to a loving owner:p

I believe that both Woolfy and Martin may be flexible enough to do a fixed financial amount of work each month? Try calling to discuss

its not so much the work, as i can do that. its more about being able to buy a camper done or in need of work. i am currently looking for one, and am saving money quite quickly. but if i had the option, i would be happy to pay a bit more if i could pay it off monthly/weekly. may be a bad idea, but thought it would be worth a mention as i have noticed some people on here have 3 or more just sitting going to waste. and that seems a real shame

yeah, but with bank loans things can get a little anoying. bank charges everytime your money goes in an hour late and they constantly try to jam a bigger loan down your throat

your more likely to get someone to hold one for you and accept a number of payments until you have paid for it - then you can have it but the vehicle world is sadly full of people who stitch each other up (hopefully we are above that in the commer world)but people are wary of parting with something they have not been paid for.

Maybe the seller keeping hold of the log book until fully paid could be an option

and lets be honest a do-er upper commer isnt an expensive beast (not yet anyway)

Hmmm Paul, now you appear to be asking for finance because you don't want to be charged for late payments, wouldn't instill confidenceif I had the money or the van to loan you mate ;)

If you don't like the idea of banks and have a smaller amount to borrow I'd suggest trying Zopa. http://uk.zopa.com/ZopaWeb/ rather people getting rubbish savings rates they can get a better rate by loaning people the money, who in turn get a lower rate than they would for loans on the high street and as I say I think there would be less of an upsell to bigger amounts.

actually i have only ever made 1 late payment, just dont trust banks mate.it is sad that so many people stitch each other up. besides i would never ask someone for that amount of trust as i have been mucked around before (by my own brother). vehicle would stay with the owner till payed for, besides. was only an idea
