Commer food van advice

Hi All

Very new to this and looking for some guidance. We’re setting up a food van business and have fallen in love with an already converted Commer.

Hopefully having a closer look at it this week. Just looking for any key things to watch out for, common faults/issues. It’s from 1972 and apparently had the following done already:
- Power Steering installed
- New fuel line, new fuel pump and new fuel tank installed.
- New distributor installed
- Payment already made to garage for gear shift to be swapped out for a Lexus 5 speed…needs scheduling.

Many thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the Madhouse :)
It sounds like most of the usual mechanical issues have already been sorted out the only other thing I can suggest is an SU carb conversion to help with power and economy as the old Zenith carbs they were fitted with are not very good.
Body wise the rot like any other old car so look out for rust in the door bottoms, door steps, chassis rails, spring hangers and jacking points, front valance behind the bumper and under the peak above the windscreen. Hopefully this is sound or has already been done and all will be well.
Looking forward to seeing some pics - it's the law ;)
Is this Sid's old van by any chance?

Only from his post and PMs on here, I never got to try his food offering as he was based at the other end of the country. Where are you based?
