Yes, I saw that had made an appearance at Goodwood Revival this year. Must be the most celebrated Commer since its restoration a few years back.
I took a good close look at it at 24 Heures du Mans three or four years ago, and it is simply magnificent! It was transporting a couple of C-type Jags (I think) participating in the historic "Legends Race" which runs prior to the regular 24hr race. It really is wonderful that this historic race car transporter was saved and restored to former glory, and put to use again within historic racing circles.
A couple of months ago, I saw an advert for an old Fiat race car transporter for Scuderia Ferrari - again an old haggered truck found sitting around, this time having served as a fairground or circus vehicle, and duly saved and restored at great cost. Ferrari used to run several of these, but all were thought to be long lost. This being the only one left, it was being put up for auction at one of the big auction houses recently. One can only guess what sort of money it will make/made.
But that is beside the point, as the most importatant thing is that these vehicles are restored and preserved for future generations, so that we can get a fuller experience in historic racing - or simply just treasuring these vehicles for what they are. In their day they were just seen as "another dull car transporter". Now, however, they are documenting history !
Cue vehicles like Martin's BT-liveried Spacevan, the post bus, the butchers van etc. and others. Same sort of thing, really. They are - or will be - documenting real life history
