commer accelerating

Just wondering if anyone can help me out, my van is just going to maximum revs even in neutral, the spring near the air filter had snapped and ive put a new one on but it still does the same thing.
Can anyone help please.

hello
it the accelerator pedal flat on the floor?

I'd say disconnect the accelerator cable from the carb and then try again. I would guess that the accelerator cable is jammed somewhere so its just a case or working out where. The cable may have come out of the little fitting just up on the top left hand side of the radiator. The other possibility is that the accelerator rod has got jammed. it goes from the accelerator pedal under the cab and up to the side of the radiator. Try pusing on the pedal and seeing if it moves at all.

I had a similar problem a long time ago.

It could also be the cam underneath jammed against the air scoop.

I just did one for someone last week, the rod linkage was siezed solid, right back to the pedal [xx(]

Sorted it, there is a screw on a spring on the carb , i think its the carb anyway (im not good with anything mechanical) that needed loosening.
She is running real smooth now :)

Also found out why i had no heating , the valve was closed on the tube from the engine to the fans :)
Probably keep it closed for the summer as even when the fans are not on some heat still comes out of them.

That'll be the idle adjustment screw.

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

glad it was an easy fix Ran use to do that I was going to mention it but didn't think it would be the same you may find you have to adjust it according to the weather [8D]
