Clutch master cylinder

Has anyone fitted a different clutch master cylinder than the original Lockheed. My mate has a brand new Land Rover one, the distance between the mounting holes is the same, I can't see why it won't work, anyone tried something like this? A Landy master cylinder can be bought for around £18 vs about £70 +vat I've been quoted for Lockheed.
 
If the bore and distance between locating face and piston outer face is the same then I don't see why not. Bonnie has got some weird master cylinder fitted with a square plastic reservoir, no idea what it is, I suspect it has a slightly smaller bore as the clutch is very light.
 
AHA, the Landy ones look like what's fitted to Bonnie, it does stick up through the floor a bit though so a cover needs to be made.
