cant fully lean the choke??

Hi all,

After having engine running for quite some time - 30 mins at least - i need to keep the choke pulled out about 2/5ths. try to lean it and engine coughs splutters and and dies. It doesnt quite tick over right either?? I have put in a newplugs, coil, HT leads, Cap, Contacts, condenser and Rotor arm. What could be the likely culprit?????[xx(]

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have a 1000 mile miracle i need to perform next week.:I
 
Have you cleaned the jets inside the carb [?] If you lift the carb top off, there are 2 brass jets screwed into the top half ;)

will give it a bash, Thanks Martin. Let you know the result. PS could i need a new fuel filter? A friend suggested this too.
 
Could also be the float height. Bit of a faff to do, but instruction in the manual ;)

Check the air filter as well - if it is badly clogged you get the same effect.
