I'm very anxious to buy a commer camper soon and would like some advice on it if anyone is able to help me.
Is the classifieds forum on this website the best way to find campers for sale or is there a better way of finding them? Also, what is the average price that I'd be looking to spend on one?

I'll reply first - but those with more knowledge should be along soon! There is no better way to find them than on the Classifieds on the website. If it is anywhere else on the web it'll be listed by someone else on there. It would be very rare for a van to sell without anyone noticing
Obviously, ebay is another main place. They pop up on Gumtree occasionally and also Preloved. Classic Campers (google it) have them too. There is a 1984 Sherpa on that site - it may be worthwhile contacting the seller as he has sold a few recently.
Price - whatever your willing to spend really! A really nice PA went for £5000 recently, and Wills van, which had an awful lot of work and love spent on it just sold for nearer to £6K, but they are the two highest vans I think. On the opposite end of the scale a PB just sold on ebay for £650. Body looked good, but had questionable paint design!
This is as good a place as any I suppose. Some do appear elsewhere but a link is usually posted up on here anyway. As for price, well...... how long is a piece of string? It all depends on condition etc. If it has 12 months MOT I would expect to pay around £2k minimum. Coach-built examples seem to attract lower prices than the van-type ones. It's really a case of seeing what's available and working out if it's right for you depending on the amount and type of work required. I'm not being much help really am I?

Baz has just about summed it up, as with any old car you have just got to look everywhere for problems. The usual places are the lower fluted panels, door bottoms, rear spring hangers, jacking points rear floor corners (inside the cupboards if it's a camper), front floors, roof gutters, front valance. Mechanically they are strong but engines can suffer from overheating caused by blocked waterways and radiators - kingpins are a well known problem area if they have not had there regular shot of grease. To get one with all of these problems would be plain bad luck (I guess I'm unlucky:I) so just be careful and go over any van with a fine tooth comb, you never know you might get lucky
