Buying a camper van

Hello, I have finally been talked into buying a camper van by the wife and having seen loads of 'orrible VW's I stumbled upon the commer.I'm in the research stage at the moment and would love to hear from any camper van owners. I've got two small kids and a dog, plus my wife and I are both over 6 foot. Would a littel commer be able to acomodate all of us? Any help really appreciated,

Thanks

Max

Welcome Max!

Most commers have a double bed made from a pair of bench seats in the back, mine (a PA) only then has a single bed which is effectively the folded down front bench seat.

Later models had bunks in the pop up roof too (which therefore means the van is higher) and I think the Highwayman would sleep 5 as there is another bunk over the cab.

Hi Max,

I have two Autosleeper vans.
One has a fixed bulkhead between the front seats and the back. With a bed in the front going side to side and one in the back going from side to side.

The other has no dividing bulhead between the front and the back and the front seats fold flat so there is a very large bed going front to back. The engine cover also has a cusion to make the whole area flat. This would be better if you are tall
There were a great number of combinations of layout bunks etc for the autosleeper.

Hi All,
I I have a 62 BlueBird poptop with incomplete interior.
I haven't quite figured out how the beds are supposed to work.
Anyone have some pics of the inside setup? Unfortunatly the ones on ebay always seem to be vague when it comes to inside shots, and there isn't much on the web.

Thanks,
Al

Hi Al

Noticed you checked this on Yahoo too; can I have emailed you some pictures I had of my interior before I ripped it out

I guess it's not a Blue Bird, but an factory conversion.
I got the pics. Thanks 'admin'! Still not quite the setup that it must have had.
My friend picked up a Autosleeper, and it has the same inerior as tne pics you sent.
