Hi, i have just come back from the levellers festival in Devon and was wondering if anyone else went to the festival. Also i am finding a little difficulty in selecting first gear on some occasions, when i select first its going into third. Is it something i am doing wrong?
 
You need longer arms;)
Could be the gear change linkage bushes worn, cheap job to do but the front one looks a bit awkward.

check the selector rod that goes between the top of the gearbox and the gear change mechanism. I had a similar problem in selecting first and reverse, and it was due to the shaft selector rod not being securely attached.

There's a little ball joint on either end, make sure they are on securely. The rod can be adjusted for length by disconnecting at one end and screwing the ball joint in or out, if you are still having trouble try turning it anti-clockwise a couple of turns and see if it helps.
