Devastated that our companion for 8 years has bone cancer - she's in today for a biopsy to see if its the aggressive (90% likely) or localised version and therefore what we could do. Not great as it is in her hip so pretty brutal.

VERY conscious that it is for HER and not for US. If it is the bad one, amputation, pelvis rebuild, chemo would only give her another year before spreading further and a brutal 3 month recovery, which we consider selfish. If it is localised then the same process could give her another 3-4 years which is more normal lifespan, greyhounds do well on 3 legs met several, hence the biopsy.

:( the girlfriend has a whippet/greyhound cross, he already has a rebuilt hip after running into a concrete bin.

Oh poppy poor puppy. That is very sad...sorry to hear this guys....George is in a bit of a bad way too but bouncing around still....mind you he is getting on now.

Very sad to say that we had to put Poppy to sleep yesterday. We couldn't do any more for her, we'd like to think that is true for her whole life, not just these last 5 months.

The man who bought the pa has waldenstroms blood cancer has had it for 2 years quietly not bothering him it is a rare cancer...he has just a month ago been told he has another rare cancer mylodysplacia or mds he now has transfusions every other week & lots of appointments. Can I prompt people to donate blood & huge thank you to those who do.
Jon I posted lovely pic of you with poppy at Commerfest iirc. So sorry to hear poppy has gone very sad love to you both xxx

Very sad but you can only do so much before you realise you're doing it for yourself and not for the pet. It's hard but you did right.

Sorry about poppy. We usually out live our loved pets/ menbers of the family but we have them for the fun and love they give.
