Baby seats

We need to figure out what is the best option for securing a baby seat in the van as the front belt doesn't reach around the baby seat. It is a long time till Stan is old enough for a front facing seat which will probably fit on the existing belt.

Has anyone fitted one in their Commer?

Didin't know if just trying to fit a longer belt in the front is OK, but with the hinged bench seat presumably we may want to try and tether it back?

Have seen this on a website, not convinced but may be safer and could presumably use existing anchor points for the front belt.

Our rear seats are side facing (and seem to have been altered to hinged rather than sliding and hinged although the 'side' hinge panel is still there) so can't put a belt in for these in the forward facing position as the seat doesn't quite convert to that anymore.

Any ideas appretiated as Stan is getting bored of kicking around in the back of the van on the driveway I think.[V]
 
I've been pondering on the same issue. We've got a three-month old daughter, and will also need an arrangement for the rear facing child seats.

As we've fitted an isofix seat base to our Fiat to get the seat fixed, I've been wondering if it would be possible to retrofit the isofix brackets somewhere on the Commer. Suppose that if the anchor points are solid enough, it could be done. If that sort of thing is allowed, of course.

Ave a butchers at Ruperts method - it's probably the best option.

These guys are very good, they do a lot of classics including one-offs. They can supply standard belts to suit just about any car/van etc and you can specify extra length for the baby seat. Give them a call, I've found them very helpful in the past (They made a kit to fit inertias in the front of my Imp).

Some child seats only require a lap belt. Which is an easy fix. 3points are more involved.

Cheers Bazateer, seatbelts arrived a couple of days ago and had been sitting in the outside bog as the courier hadn't left a note[}:)] Will hopefully be slotting them back in this weekend so we can get mobile again:p Just need to shorten the 'D' bar threads a tad as even as they are now cleared of underseal/crud they are still miles to long and if I have to take them off again there is no way I am going through the 2 hours of torture to get them out again[B)]
