Hi all , what type of petrol should I use in my 1961 commer , also does anyone know the fan belt size for a 1500 engine , also could I use car wax on bare metal to stop it from rusting , once again really appreciate any help regards

Super unleaded if you can find it would be perfect but If you've got to use E10 then make sure the rubber components in your fuel system are suitable. Rubber fuel lines should be changed including the elbow on the tank filler pipe (I know Matin Maltas has these) I would also use an additive like Castrol Valvemaster or Millers VSPe Power Plus to counteract the effect of the higher ethanol content.
I would use high zinc content primer on bare metal or even an epoxy primer if the surface won't be painted for an extended period. But if it's bare for decorative reasons then a coat of clear lacquer will keep it shiny for a while.
I'll have look in the Hunter manual later to see if it says anything about the fan belt.

The Commer manual says the fan belt is a 40 degree angle 952 mm long V belt, this is for an alternator and it doesn't state anything different for a 1500 engine.

Panky once again thank u , I was wondering would turtlewax on bare metal stop the moisture effecting the metal ,ie rusting a short time measure, . As for the fan belt? that would be great help . I have been getting bits and pieces off Martin so will check hin out for the rubber fuel parts . I will check in with you later thanks again

I think mine has the dynamo still , will check later today and see , take some pictures and post , thanks again

I find my vans runs a lot better with a shot of Millers VSPe Power Plus on E5 or E10 when I can't get anything else. It protects against ethanol and has an octane booster, works well for me. It's fairly expensive but as I don't do a lot of miles it suits me, be sure you get the higher concentrate one that does multiple fill ups as there is also a bottle that only does one tank full. Castrol Valvemaster is also a good choice.
I never actually bothered with additives purely for lead replacement as I've seen a few engines that have suffered valve and seat failure even with careful use of the products. What started me using it was the introduction of E10 and the damage it can do to fuel systems. Be sure you fit ethanol proof fuel hose too.
