Cutting back the front panel, that curved bit under the fluting and bumper it dawned on me that these parts rust so readily because there are several seperate parts welded together, the small gaps allow water to seep inside.
Now I'm toying with the Idea of welding just a single sheet of metal to the front and not bothering to put anything behind it, this will do away with lots of bits of metal all joined together, chassis strengh (I think ) is not an issue here, so how might an mot inspector react to a single sheet of steel istead of the standard set up, some of which will still be visible from undereneath?
