Hey Jon, that's my van!! I've just bought it on ebay. It's now safe and well in South Wales. I don't know what to do about the "nose job" cos it's fixed on with about a dozen self-tappers. The cab has also been brush-painted, with a yard broom I think! But he's now starting and running quite well. I'm stuck for time to work on him for the next two weeks, but hope to get him out camping before the end of the season.
(see also "brand new" in general chat)

Good luck with him looks well decked out inside youve even got a boiler!! Nice one is he road legal yet??;);)

Not yet Jon. Needs an MOT, but he's only done 40 miles since the last test, and looks very sound underneath, so I'm not expecting any probs. I can't do any more on him till next week, though, so I'll have to be patient!!.

The nose job probably isn't cosmetic but an attempt at curing a common Commer problem. The regulars on here understand the importance of giving your bulbous end a squeeze occasionally [:0] (no seriously) otherwise water dribbles out of your heater box. The B E in question lurks behind the grille, and the plastic one on yours makes it even more difficult to get to, the B E is a crude valve on the end of the heater box drain and squeezing it opens up the slit in the end :I and allows any water build up to escape. Trouble is if neglected the drain pipe can fill up with crud and block it completely. Good luck in your quest to find your bulbous end and happy squeezing :D.

it did cross my mind that it was a solution to the nose rotting out too, I imagine it would be tricky to make up a replacement nose panel - got to do some repairs to Bessies' nose - give her some plastic surgery, could have to change her name to Cher:I

best of luck with the resto, looks a lovely van - think you did well with that one:)

hi jon, thats the exact same van as mine, bought her off ebay as well,as a non runner but got her all done running fine now, luckily she was already tested so on the road now had a couple of days out but working nights 7 nights a week limits me,bloody newspapers.good luck with the mot cheers Ian

Dodgepb, I used the pics of your "Eleanor" to show people what my van is like, cos yours looks better than mine!! She's up and running now, but not yet MOT'd. That'll have to wait till I come back from holiday next week. I'd like to take that thing off the front, but its fixed on with 12 self tappers, so there'd be a lot of holes to fill. It's also been hand-painted, with a yard brush, I think, so there's a lot of work to be done to get it right. The inside is very good though.

I've taken off the "nose job". It's a beautifully made panel that somebody took a lot of time to make, but it looked awful. Its available FOC if anyone wants it.
