hi all ive herd that they my be bringing back the 25yr tax exempt law

anyone know if this is true or if they have been told this too ???
 
Dont hold your breath as its very unlikely to happen in these austere times, the govt could not possibly justify it and would more than likely scrap it altogether to raise a few extra pounds out of our pockets!
 
when Tax exempt was introduced there were lots of people didn't want it[:0] because They believed there would be a price to pay over the years I am starting to see why! you only have to look to see whats happenning in Malta!
Be greatfull Rich yours is not tax exempt!
There is a pettition I haven't got a link but this is one that every classic car owner should sign saw it in classic car weekly a couple of weeks ago any one help ?

not sure of all the ins & outs but if WE don't stop it it Will be here before we know it! yes outlawing & more!classic car weekly covered a story week before last? (near back mind you iirc)!any one got the web addy ?

I'll sign it anyway thing is we have a good sense of history in England and I don't think it would happen because of that :0)
 
I'm sure the Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens will keep the pressure on the UK government for them to keep the tax exempt scheme, and argue for adoption of a similar system as this country (and others) have got: A rolling system with any vehicle older than 30 years old being classed as tax exempt.

There is an active lobby in this country on these issues, and I know they're now trying to get a general acceptance for old vehicles being viewed as items of particular cultural historic interest. If they get there, vehicles older than 30 years should end up getting special protection under the laws which regulates listed buildings etc.

The reason Maltese vehicles are available here is because as they are now part of the EU they can finally be exported anywhere within the EU member states, this was never allowed before they joined up.
