Hi folks
At last we're in the Commer Owner's club! (ie, I'm on this forum and we now have a Commer van)
Meet Roland: A Commer PB Minibus "Rat Look" as seen at Goodwood recently
Re "Rat look": The van is lacquered so the paint and fresh metal you see isn't rusting, and is really solid (its actually quite shiny!). I haven't seen any rust yet
It's a bus, so basically empty inside. The plan is to tidy the paintwork and install things such that it's a camper. I'm tallish so the bed will go lengthways, so an Autosleeper wasn't a good option.
1725cc petrol, 4-speed. hinged doors, and hinged side door. So far as we know, he's totally original and standard, apart from some low profile tyres which reduce cruising speed but increase acceleration. They probably help with the handling too I guess.
Loving it !
Immediate jobs:
Later jobs:
We're so chuffed! What we seem to have bought is a van which is stripped of all the stuff that you'd have to strip in order to make sure it's solid. So everything we see is honest and right there in front of you. No horror stories lurking behind some piece of trim etc.
I can't believe how smooth the ride is, especially with the low profile tyres.
We are super-chuffed and can't wait to get cracking !
