I'm going to have to change the colour back to blue on the logbook now. Fair bit of flatting and polishing required next, then, when I've done the doors I am back to the stage I was at when I bought it: "painted and ready to be be reassembled"!

The repaint has started on front wings, bonnet, scuttle and tailgate. Beginning to get the hang of it, but more work required on bonnet and scuttle, then I just have the rest of the car to do!

Clara looks fantastic, you must be pleased. That step looks fine to me, a lot better than the original step fitted to the Wanderer which was a slide out open steel slat affair that constantly jammed on its runners.

Sometimes the name just happens. My wife's cars always have names, whereas mine rarely do. She currently has Punto Cabrio Bertone known as Bertie and a Fiat 500X. She was looking for an Italian name for it, but with a number plate which includes WO and WZL it naturally became Worzel!

When I did the carpets on my R17, I first soaked them and sprinkled on some biological washing powder, agitated it with a brush, left it a few minutes, agitated it again, then pressure washed it. Changed it from grubby and oily to looking almost like new (see vive le rust porn). I doubt yours...

Lovely van, great restoration and transformation. From the original side window, it looks like it was once a Wanderer, so it's not only had new metal in the panel sides, but an entire steel roof.
