Thanks Panky that was just what I needed! However I'm even more confused now! The bumper irons and step are all one assembly. Maybe there has been some creativity in the past to weld it all together. I'll have a little think. Re:the tow bar, the step has a tow bar mount so I assumed it was ok...

Hello, I've just whipped the engine out of the van to track down a serious oil leak and when I took off the 'box, the camshaft sealing disc dropped out! I need to take a good look at what's going on, but I presume this could have been what was causing the oil to not stay in the engine? is it...
