yep, we're off tomoz... should hit the Tamar bridge around 8.30... so keep your eyes open if you're on the A38/M5 and Bristol / S.Wales area during the morning!!
Commer, Autosleeper, Powder blue and white, with trailer and 3 bikes!!
I am heading up the M5 on Friday if any of you are out and about!!?? Leaving sunny Cornwall at 6.30am and hoping to get to Brecon, South Wales. We don't get out of the Duchy too often so give us a 'toot' if you see us!!

I know, I know... but I just don't like things going the way of the V-dub. I.E. People paying well over the odds for vans that just ain't that good... (Not saying the above van is bad...)
Thanks Colin, have read that before, but forgot it was there. Looks like the main difference is the spline pattern for the prop shaft. Which means this may not fit my van...? Although I only need the housing really as mine is cracked. (Still runs ok, but leaks a bit).
Will get it down, and if no...
Yes, no good for a standard 4 speed box.
But, my box has a cracked o/d, so will be interested in this... as long as it is a straight swap?? Think it will be but thought I would ask MM or CR just to check.
Anybody give me some advice about the o/d and gearbox adjustment set up please? - i know i need the special (churchill) tool, but need to have a go without it. I had to change the top plate to the gearbox, as the operating link inside was worn and didn't operate the switch to the o/d when 3rd /...
Take a 40 plus one out a few times and then see it split. Nah.. carpet, far cosier. A quality offcut.. flotex or something (doesn't mind gettin a bit damp), and then a small rubber foot mat on top... always did like to be different... (that's why we have a Commer living in Cornwall!!)
I know we all often say how well our Commer did at some thing or the other but...
Didn't our Commer pull a caravan really well back from St.Ives today. Couldn't believe how fast we were able to go, often up relatively steep gradients.. 55mph no problem. And we only used 2nd gear twice...
When the wife bumped the Merc earlier this week I thought our weeks camping was off.... but then thought hey, pull the caravan with the Commer. Ok it's only 50 miles away, but it is up and down all the way, and the van weighs 1200kgs... anyway, she did fine... no problems. Anyone else pulled...
