Van Prices.... Looking to sell Frodo!

Hi All, Hope you are all well - it's been a while! Frodo has pretty much been sat in a barn for the last five years, and as much as I want to get him on the road, with current circumstances, it's not going to happen. Therefore, we've decided it would be better to sell him, and let someone else...

Hi peeps! Anyone know of an uprated alternator that I can fit to Frodo - ie one that will have a bit more power, but fit straight in?

    Tap tap tap

It's driving me mad!!!! Hello everyone, It's been a while since I was last on here, as I have been on an oil rig in the Gulf - not a great place to spend much time! Anyway, now I am back on dry land, in good old Blighty, I have spent some time getting Frodo ready for lots of adventures this...

    Tappetty Tap!!!!

Hi All! Frodo is making a wierd tapping sound when in gear and driving. It almost sounds like asewing machine, and changes speed in line with engine revs. I thought it might be pinking, but have retarded the dizzy and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Also played around with the mixture...

Latching relay circuit - a bit technical

I've bought a new indicator stalk for Frodo. The old one had indicators, horn on the end, push forward for main beam (when the headlights were on), and temp pull back for main beam flash. The new one has indicators, horn, but only temp pull back for high beam, no forward position for...

    Timing on unleaded valves

Afternoon All! I had a play with the timing today - they don't make it easy to see the marks do they! I got it set up somewhere between 5 and 10 deg in advance of TDC. I'm going back up one evening this week with a paintbrush and some white paint to make the job a bit easier, and hopefully more...

    Webber carb help!

Frodos not firing right, in fact hardly firing at all! Everything stinks of petrol, and I think the carb is running rich, but what screw does what? Looking from the drivers seat, on the left is the idle speed screw, then underneath that is another screw but I don't know what it does, and which...

    Inlet/exhaust manifold plate thingy

Whats the best thing to do with the plate that sticks up into the exhaust, and is meant to heat up the intake faster? I recall its stupid and you should get rid of it, but do you simply cut of the bit that hangs into the exhaust, using the outside as a gasket?

    The candle trick!

Don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I discovered it today, and it really helped! The candle trick is a way to get stuck bolts/nuts and studs out when they are rusted up. Basically heat the metal around the stuck item up and then touch it with the wax of a candle, which will melt...

    Aaaargh! Help or sympathy needed!

So, I drove Frodo back to the barn on Friday, and everything was good, but I thought the engine sounded a bit "sucky" when you depressed the accelerator. On Saturday, a check showed that the tube from the carb to the vacuum advance had melted, so I stuck a new tube on. Frodo sounded great for...

    Microswitch for brakes

After my issue with the brake light switch I managed to circumvent the issue of a new switch, as the tab for the bayonet fitting for the live wire had snapped off. There is currently a crocodile clip on the end of the live wire, just holding on to the remnants of the copper tab so the lights are...

    Brake light woes!

Morning all! This could possibly be the last question for a while from me, cos if I can get this sorted, then Frodo is going to a local garage for a couple of hours of mechanic time, a tune up and some tlc, before having his MOT..... So now he is running, we did a quick once over and found...

    Clutches again!

It seems to be a hot topic at the moment, so I thought I would add my own problem to the scrum! We got Frodos engine rebuilt last year (Thanks Martin M!), but when we put it back in, the clutch wasn't working, it felt really soft and wasn't moving the withdrawal lever, beyond making contact...

    Starting problems

OK, second of todays issues! I have the engnine installed and wired (I think correctly!) there's fuel in the filter and the engine turns over. There's a spark on the plug I checked, but no firing. Any suggestions of what to check next? BTW the carb seems to be leaking fuel from one of the...

    Clutch Problems

Welcome back all - I really needed this place, thank God it's back! 1st of todays problems is Frodo's clutch. It's very spongey, but the piston in the clutch cylinder seems to move in and out no problem. However when installed correctly it doesn't go anywhere, I gave the clutch a quick bleed...

    Engine installation advice needed

Morning all! Hope someone might be abl to give me some hints on getting my engine ( excellently rebuilt by Mr Maltas) back into Frodo. It's in place and perfectly aligned with the gearbox, but about 3/4" from where it need to be and doesn't want to go any further. Anyone got any suggestions?
