Clutch fails when engine /gearbox warm COMMER PB 1725 manual

I guess you know this if you work on cars but make sure the bleed nipple is at the top of the slave too so it bleeds properly - have seen them upside down! as Panky says it’s most likely the fluid getting hot from the exhaust. I actually wrapped my slave cylinder when I had an exhaust that ran...

Broke the bank a bit! Surprised they say it shouldn’t need mounting with how heavy it is! Will see how it pans out once fitted.

    First gear selection

Yer a sounds like I’m teaching you to suck eggs then :) Reg exhaust - been there all the way to La Rochelle and back :) Bit stumped in that case bar adjusting further. I’m fortunate enough to have an ally head engine and SU carb so goes very well up hills usually. Live in the Peak District so...

    First gear selection

Maybe worth checking there’s no play where the gear lever connects to the selector rod (bolt that’s wired up). I’d had this where it was a little loose and it struggled to spect some gears, this is under the floor box that the gear level goes in to. Next - it may well be those 2x bushes that...

    Brakes

As a quick fix and might sound daft but maybe try switching the drums over to see if it helps. Sometimes it does with pulling left and right. Maybe chamfering the edges too?

Yorkshire fix - snapped my classic fog light switch right at the base and couldn’t find a suitable replacement. Melted a pop rivet into it and works/feels/looks lovely At least I think so :)

It’s a facet but the black plastic half cylinder type rather than cube. Good to know that yours does that too, maybe it’s a feature :D. Online people seem to talk about them going quiet once pressurised and mine has probably once or twice in 5 years! I’ll maybe put up with it then Ta again Mr P

The postie turned up 30 mins ago with the new 8mm to 6mm straight through connector - just replaced the 2nd fuel filter with that and hey presto it fires up from cold on the first crank. Love an easy fix :) Next one is why my electric fuel pump always seems to pump (the usually clicking) and...

Ta - will do, got a new NRV to fit just in case but maybe removing it might help. Thought if it’s old and leaky it might be draining the fuel back to tank so taking a while to come back through

Just think it’s taking a while to get fuel into and out of the second filter. Going to replace the one way fuel valve (maybe leaking back) and remove that second filter. If that doesn’t work I’ll move on to the ignition system but once it fires it fine. I’m only talking 5 seconds to fire but...

Cheers Mr P - yep Tim tank so shouldn’t be any crud anyway really. I’ll whip it off and hope it makes the difference. It also started with a few hot start issues too but fitted this sleeve and all sorted instantly

Been a while and hope everyone is doing ok. Got a QQ - recently on start up from cold the van takes loads of cranking, always used to be instant, I’m assuming it’s a fuelling issue. I’m thinking it’s due to the fuel filter between the tank and the SU carb (the van has an elec fuel pump so has a...

Advice re parts/repairs for Gladys please

Hi and congratulations. Defo buy the new parts for the clutchslave, master and the brake master. I’ve tried and never had much luck with the repair kits due to damage in the bores themselves. Since fitted new and they’ve been great. Also likely cheaper than the garage doing the seal changes...
