Misfire / missing a cylinder, help!

Spark plugs swapped over and also the leads and the issue remained at number 2. Will take the rocker cover off again tomorrow and check gaps. Another good opportunity to clean up the engine area :-)

Misfire / missing a cylinder, help!

Had the rocker cover off to inspect. Can't see anything out of the ordinary. The exhaust valve of number 2 appears to have been adjusted a lot less than all the others, which all seem the same. Couple of questions: Does the engine have to be really hot to check the clearances? When turning the...

    1972 Commer PB

Discovered a weep from the brake master cylinder so that will be the next fix. Became really apparent after sliding the front seat forwards and it rests against the pedal. It caused a nice puddle and a constant drip. They always felt like they had air getting in somehow or something was wrong...

Misfire / missing a cylinder, help!

Hi guys, My commer is running on only 3 cylinders (obvious when disconnecting the plug leads). It's the second cylinder back from the cab. I have checked the lead and spark and found the spark was weak so have adjusted and got a better consistent spark now. Still no luck getting it firing on...

    Front shocks upgrade alternative

I was looking at the above and the requirement for a 10mm pivot eye and was wondering if there was a urethane kit with the correct size hole available to buy already that would fit correctly in the Monroe shock. I don't have any measurements to try and find any but will get a pair of shocks...

    Front shocks upgrade alternative

Thanks! after my latest outing I was thinking about upgrading the front shocks to try and improve the handling. Rachaels describes the van as being like a "rollerskate out of control"

    1972 Commer PB

I was wondering about that exact thing. I cleaned the plug and adjusted the gap so it is good when tested but the actual lead didn't feel great when I wiggled it. Was going to get a new set of leads.... Failing that, I will have to dig deeper. I might also change the rear tyres for the original...

New Consul & Toggle switch layout

very nice. I am going minimalist on mine. The centre panel will house two speakers and a cigarette lighter in the middle. I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything but steering so the less the better for me.

New Website for Commer Van Spares

Nice one!! love the new branding. I see you are not taking on restorations now on the website, that's a shame as your threads on the forum were like instruction manuals on how to restore basket cases to show stoppers!! always admired the quality of your work.

    1972 Commer PB

Haha, yes, quite sure, although it is probably because it hasn't run for long enough to have run to the bottom of the casing and drip since I cleaned everything!! I know the feeling. I have been running around with a knife, sandpaper and some sealant to try and tidy up some seams.

Where does time go??? Van is due a run out to Pembrokeshire next weekend so have been spending some quality time with it. All electrics sorted. Found the failing hazards were due to a dodgy contact in the switch. Trced some other loose cables and stripped them out as not needed. Fitted a new...
