Hello, yes you need matching sending unit and the gauge. There are new temperature gauge units now comes along with the sending unit together and you have to sometime use a coupling to fix the sending unit. I did this to my Spacevan.

Yes almost all year summer you can call it looking at temperature gauge. But we have 2 lousy rainy seasons and few days back over 200 poor souls got killed due to floods and land slides.
