windscreen

right, taken windscreen out very easy.when putting it back in do i put the glass in the rubber first or do i put the rubber round the front first.does that make sense:D have got some tiger seal comeing so was thinking putting this round the rubber and sticking this on first then putting the glass in.

Hi Gary you will need a helper to do the job - JACKIE:) Put the seal on the screen first, get a long piece of strong cord and run it around the outer recess in the seal with the two ends of the cord sticking out of the bottom. Position the lower part of the screen and seal in the opening with the ends of the cord inside the van and gently work the inner lip of the seal around the frame by pulling the cord out slowly. Remember to hold both ends of the cord or it will just pull out - good luck it's going to be messy with Tigerseal;)
It would probably be better if you put the Tigerseal around the top as you fit the screen (where you can't get at when the screen is in) then seal the rest once it's in.

when i put the seal on the glass should it be a tight fit,if yes, its not.can the seal be cut and shortend slightley and glued back together?if yes what glue would i use:D

Not tight, as when you come to fit it, it pulls itself into the corners if tight. All the seals are made on a screen, so should be right.

cheers guys will be haveing a go in the morning.will try without sealant first if no good will try with some sealant after:D

also fitted the new glass fuel pump a couple of weeks ago with new plugs and points, what a difference.got to the retro show and back with no hassle :D

I am well impressed[^] it takes courage to take the first steps but once you do you wonder what all the fuss was about:)
Now I haven't tried fitting a windscreen so everything I've said is from other peeps experience(I did the rear door glass which was easy)so I'll be waiting for a full report:I

what i done was put tiger seal in where the screen fits into the rubber then put the rubber round the screen, have a cup of tea/beer:)while the sealant goes of.then put the sealant all the way round where the rubber fits in the van, dont forget to put your bit of cord round the rubber before lifting it up into place.you need somebody inside the van to pull the cord whilst you are pushing the screen from the front.once it is in wipe of excess sealantwith white spirit.job done:D hope this makes sence

That's the way to do it [^]- I didn't like the Mini version much:I
