Tyres (again)...

Was intending to keep the blue toaster off the road for another year but forgot in a drunken stupor many months ago I'd promised to use it as a wedding vehicle in Cheshire somewhere...anyway this came back to haunt me yesterday when the bride thanked me again and was very excited about going to the church in the Commer - what could I say!

So need to get an MOT asap and ideally some tyres (plus insurance and Tax grrrrrrr.

So question is - what are the fatest tyres that would fit on 15" rims with a small overall height reduction - was hoping to get the wheels banded before getting tyres but think it won't matter too much really and can do that later with the same tyres. An thoughts from anyone that done it?

Martin I think you gave a spec out at one time but can't for the life of me find it.

Good luck Jim, just have halfs from now on ;)

Not sure my post was clear...was really asking what are the widest tyres that someone has fitted on standard 15" rims that'll go on and not catch? I guess 195's but unclear of the wall height needed

I had 195's on Bonnie before I changed them to 185's. They where a bit of a struggle to get off the rear but they were very high profile, I think they were 195 -R-15 which would have given then an aspect ratio of 82%

Thanks Panky, yer I'm after slightly lower profile tyres to improve the ride a bit and hopefully fit it in the garage easier.
