Hi All.
I have been looking for new rear shocks as I noticed one was leaking. Now we no longer have Martin or Speedy I inquired at Rootes Parts Service in Holland but no luck there either. I contacted the Rootes Archive Centre Trust to see if they could give me the maker and part number, thinking I could then look for other makes using the same units. I had a reply from James Spencer of the Trust telling me that they were indeed Armstrong units and attached a drawing and part number as well. A couple of days later he then sent me a list of other cars using the same units, one of which was the Austin JU250. Another couple of days went by and I had another email from James saying he had seen some for sale on Ebay. I contacted the seller Iain of V and C engineering who was very helpful and after some research he informed me that they were the same as the Commer. I have just received them and although I haven't fitted them, they look right. He had some NOS but on his advice reconditioned ones would be better as they would have all new seals etc in them. I did inquire about the drop links but they can only recondition cylindrical ends not ball ends and these links have one of each. I did manage to get two from Rootes Parts. So if anybody is looking for rear shocks this is the place to try. They were very helpful and service was very prompt. Hope this might help others looking for these.
