It seems like a lifetime ago since that photo-shoot, but I suppose that 14 years ago is a long time in any language! I do still have that blue Commer Car-Camper, which is being put back on the road this year after 5 years of non-use. Great to see that the forum is about to gain more publicity for the old Commers, once more in Practical Classics mag!:)

AAhhhh, you are he - hadn't made the connection:I, fabulous to have update on commer, looks fantastic in article - interior is gorgeous[:X]:p

Kes, do your friends have the other article I recall featuring the Calthorpe vans? I thank it is more recent than 1994 and if I remember rightly it inspired James Stanbury from Practical Classics to buy his Commer. It probably had a title like Carry on Camping or similar.

Is James a member of this forum? I notice that he no longer appears in Practical Classics.

May well have article buried here somewhere as Glyn has most back issues of PC squirreled away under beds, in lofts and sheds and he does remember article about Calthorpe Thames but may be mission impossible to find so will mention to friends as well as they may have more of a system involved in storing them;)

That's right, there were two Calthorpe's I seem to remember, one on a Thames, the other on a Bedford CA. The Commer was a Jennings ;)

Unfortunately, in a moment of weakness I had a clear our of my old Practical Classics a few years ago. I had every issue from issue 2 :(

Have now added this one to article collection from 2006, would I recognise number plate from anyone here? seems familiar somehow.

Yes this is our Wilma. Didn't know this had been scanned on here?! What a day that was, up at Appledore, North Devon. Photo's taken before refurb... just as well, not sure i would be so keen to go on that sand now! Sea water!!!!

Hadn't realised it was Appledore - thats where my folks lived before moving to West Wales - remember reading about van getting well and truly stuck in the sand, got to hand it to you, that was a brave photo shoot:)
