Bessie - four star commerdation

Well, thanks very much, Studio. But even though this camper is just like my two, this one is not one of mine.

My good one is ELD683C, and my bad one is KPL56C.

Both mine also have the wooden strip running "waistline" height, extended to the doors. This one has it lower down - and none on the doors. And the cabs on mine are white all the way down, unlike this one where the grey colour has been used from the fluted area and down.

So far I know of 4 in existence (including my two), but there may be more :)

I think the guy you bought ELD683C from used this picture on eBay as a comparison - for some reason [?]

'Harvey the RV'

this was the one on the listing -I did wonder myself why a front view of actual van wasn't possible

Bessie - four star commerdation

Yes, that's true, Panky % Studio. I had forgotten that..:I

I think the simple reason was that the vehicle was parked too close to the front door to take a proper picture. My guess, as the front of the actual vehicle is nothing to be ashamed of :) (par some small rust bubbles which couldn't be seen in a photo anyway)

In fact, not having two spotlamps doesn't trouble me the slightest. Nor the fact that mine have the same colour all the way down :D

did you get to see pics seller sent to Panky when van was for sale Jostein? he pulled it out to get some more shots including ones of "rusty" areas - please note I use very big quotation marks around the phrase "rusty" - still not convinced it's a proper commer - it doesn't seem to know the true meaning of the word:D

Bessie - four star commerdation

Yes, I did see those photos. But that was after I flew over to Liverpool to take a closer look at it myself, so I knew already :)

But despite the appearance, it is not rust free. There are areas which need attention. Not many, but some of them are particularily awkward.. [V]

And IT IS a true Commer! :D

just had a look at the parts for sale ;) now whos got a highwayman :)

This is the 2nd owner after restoration, the chap that did the restoration of the coachwork and interior was called Brian (that's where the name comes from) then Michael (the man I was talking to tonight) did the rest of the restoration, engine rebuilt front cab restoration:D:D

Moley and Brian the Snail :)

That would be Michael Palin in "Life of Brian", wouldn't it? Haha!! :D

Happy to hear that the hammock has been reunited with Brian.

By the way: Is your Bluebird 5 or 6 berth, Debs?

5 or 6 [?][?][?]

I'm not sure,:I the seat pulls out to make a double, then there will be the hammock above,

I suppose you could sleep a small person above the cab so I make that 4 [:0][:0]

What's the layout for your two, how do you get to 5 or 6 [?]

Moley and Brian the Snail :)

The seating between the cab and the kitchen section should make a double, I think. Probably the one you're referring to - and me being stupid repeating.. :I Sorry. There should also be a double bed when the sofa along the side (opposite the sink/cooker/fridge etc.) is folded down. I think that is the basic layout.

They were also available with optional 5th or even 6th bed - these being hammocks. You've probably got the 5th one (as have I) with the big steel brackets fitted in the window frames to the front of the camper section. The versions with 6 beds would have a 2nd hammock fitted just behind the first one (brackets fitted in the next pair of windows).

If you look closely in these photos from this '65 brochure, you can just about glimpse the brackets in the windows - and the bunks rolled together just behind the front seats. Brackets are painted white here, but they're black in my Bluebird.

And this is the description of the layout .. at least in theory. ;)
