I know it's a long shot but u never know , , luckily I have old tattered ones that I may be able to get them made, or try repair , but would prefare a good original set
Will do panky , thank u , what's ur thought s on vaseline as a rust preventive on interior nucks and crannies to stop moisture , fair bit of condensation in van this morning when I had a look , first night it wasnt covered, never noticed condensation when covered, and the condensation is only on the aluminium flat part of roof when down . I was out at it last night and there was ice on the inside of that part only ,Check out Woolies Trim, they do many seal profiles.
cheers panky , back on with the cover then , I may try and put a winter top on top of the existing roof , just an added layer for winter with a cover on top, thanks again , beutiful day here so off for a driveUnfortunately the Calthorpe roof was well known for this and sleeping, or cooking, in it makes it worse. The only answer is to insulate it somehow, your cover was doing just that. Not sure about the Vaseline as it could trap moisture under it and would hamper any painting you want to do in the area covered but maybe worth a try.
To hopes of getting it airtight Bob hope and no hope lol , I know with any old van that it's a constant maintenance thing ,If you can get power to it a dehumidifier would help as long as you could keep it relatively airtight. The more airtight the less it’ll be trying to dry out the planet lol
Disposable dehumidifier? what's ur THOUGHTS on putting empty cardboard boxes in to absorb the moisture, my own lack of a brainwave idea , the cardboard should absorbe the moisture or may it's a bad idea , just change the boxes once a weekI use the disposable ones filled with absorbent material. They last a couple of months and work well. Bonnie is always nice and dry when we take the cover off in the spring, Harvey will get the same treatment along with the cars.
iI don't think it will work, you could try trays of salt but that has it's own risks if you spill it.
Apparently it has to be pink hymalaine salt , I have some in the van already but probaly not enough to make a difference , I have Mertle the turtle covered now , will check it out tommorrow to see how much of a difference it makes when covered to not being covered , i think covered is best ,Didn’t people use salt in the old days?
