Gear selection

3rds always been a bit tricky And a little close to the dashboard, I’m used to it but as my partner drives it now it is a pain. Has anyone adjusted there’s before to pull it back and anyone know which piece I should be moving and which way?

Undo the bolt that holds 20 to 16 in the diagram and screw the trunnion (16) back a couple of turns along the change speed rod. See if that works

How close to firing are you?
 
Mine jumps out if first unless it’s under load coming up to junctions etc. I assume it’s because first is a “getting going” speed? And therefore I should be in second which is what I do etc
 
You don't really need first unless loaded up or doing a hill start, the manual even recommends pulling away in second.
